SPEAKER MINDY MCADAMS TEACHES ONLINE JOURNALISM
From March 7-14, the U.S. Consulate in Yekaterinburg hosted a one week speaker program on “Online journalism” with Mindy McAdams, Knight Chair Professor of Journalism at the University of Florida in Gainesville. She is the author of “Flash Journalism: How to Create Multimedia News Packages” and a media trainer and consultant. The speaker program was a follow up of the June 2008 DVC on Multimedia reporting initiated and arranged by Post at the Urals State University Journalism School.
Mindy McAdams met with journalism educators at the Urals State University to discuss new technologies in online journalism. It was followed by a three days hands-on workshop on "Current practices in online journalism" for 30 students at the Urals State University. Ms McAdams taught her class the skills of multitask editing and other essential skills for journalists working in a contemporary multimedia newsroom. The Russian students also learned how to start journalist blogs and build up loyal and enthusiastic audiences.
The feedback from the audience was very positive. The editors appreciated Mindy McAdams’ expertise.
