Mezzotint: Out of Darkness
Public Affairs Section of the United States Consulate in Yekaterinburg sponsored the first International Exhibit of Mezzotint Artworks in Yekaterinburg organized by the Artifact Publishing Company in partnership with the Sverdlovsk Oblast Regional Studies Museum. The exhibit consists of 120 works of 27 artists from around the world, two thirds of the works belonging to the American artists.
The opening of this unique exhibit took place on March 31 and was devoted to the 15th anniversary of the U.S. Consulate General in Yekaterinburg. The United States Consul General Timothy Sandusky opened the exhibit along with Deputy Minister of Culture of Sverdlovsk Oblast Oleg Gubkin and Director of the Artifact company Nikita Korytin. Deputy Chief Mission of the United States Embassy in Moscow Eric Rubin attended the event as an honorary guest. In his greeting remarks the U.S. Consul General recognized the high artistic value of the project and its importance for the people-to-people diplomacy. The existing cooperation between the masters of this rare form of arts around the globe promoted by the U.S.-based International Mezzotint Society and the efforts of the Urals experts on making this art appreciated by the wider audiences serves a wonderful example of a fascinating and mutually enriching collaboration.
