The American Center in Yekaterinburg hosted a video-conference with Robert Van Der Linden, the curator of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum . Professor Van Der Linden talked about US-Russian cooperation during World War II, with a particular focus on the Lend-Lease program. Conference participants learned what types of assistance were provided to the Allies, what obstacles had to be overcome to deliver the military equipment and supplies, and as well as details about the American aircraft that were included. The Professor described in detail several bombers and fighters and their advantages and shortcomings in the air. He also answered numerous questions about financial and trade models of the lend-lease program, the internal situation in the US during the war and political genius of then-President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
