On June 7, Consul General Mike Reinert delivered a presentation “U.S. Energy Policy in Russia” to the Yamal Oil and Gas 2012 international conference held in Salekhard.  Conference participants included senior Yamal-Nenets officials, representatives of Russia’s oil and gas industry, and international oil and gas services experts.  U.S. company Baker Hughes was a major sponsor of the conference.  The Yamal-Nenets region produces more than 90 percent of Russia’s natural gas, and conference participants actively discussed ways to produce and export even more gas using new technologies that work under Arctic conditions.
