Also additional administrative processing may be required for some applications.
In such cases, processing wait time will vary based on the individual circumstances of each application.

Certain applicants may qualify for an expedited interview appointment, at the discretion of the Consul. Please contact us if you believe you might qualify. Please note that an expedited interview does not exempt an applicant from any relevant additional processing requirements.

•  Humanitarian Reasons . These include the death or serious illness of a close family member.

•  Emergency Medical Travel. Applicants traveling for emergency medical care, and applicants accompanying patients, are given priority. Information for Applicants Traveling to the U.S. for Medical Care

•  Students and Exchange Visitors with I-20 or DS-2019 program start dates before the next available interview appointment. Applicants must show that circumstances beyond their control forced the late application.

•  Urgent and Unplanned Business Travel . Applicants must demonstrate a purpose of travel that is both time-sensitive and unplanned to qualify.

•  Requirement to testify in a U.S. Court

In addition, groups of ten or more, traveling together and for the same purpose, may apply directly to the Consulate if they find it more convenient. This does not result in an expedited appointment, but does allow us to schedule all the group members for the same day.
