Universities Are Interested in Revitalizing the Yekaterinburg-San Jose Sister City Relationship
May 16, 2006

Revitalizing the Yekaterinburg-San Jose sister city relationship through academic exchanges was the topic of a digital videoconference between San Jose State University and Yekaterinburg universities.  The DVC was held by the U.S. Consulate General with support of the American Information Center on May 16.  The sister-cities relationship between Yekaterinburg and San Jose, established in 1992, should receive a fresh start with renewed  interest in exchanges by  U.S. and Russian academic and scientific institutions.  Potential academic and cultural exchanges, degree and non-degree programs, collaborative research and business development were discussed during this initial discussion.  City hall representatives from Yekaterinburg and San Jose supported the idea of revitalizing cooperation and confirmed their municipalities’ support.  The communities on both sides plan take steps to implement this initiative.
