JAM WITH US! That was the motto of the Jam Appreciation Month announced by the Smithsonian institution in April. The U.S. Consulate General supported two events devoted to this occasion. An open jam session held by the Kamerton Center and Yekaterinburg Musical School #1 became a festive show of Russian children’s exceptional musical talent. Students aged 6-17 impressed the audience by their skilled performance and improvisation. Young musicians participating in the event received souvenirs from the Consulate in recognition of their talent in mastering the jazz art.
The 15th International Jazz Transit Festival conducted by the Variety (Estrady) Theater April 28 - 30 fitted very well into the Jazz Appreciation Month. The Consulate supported the American jazzmen – Hiram Bullock Gang - participation in the Festival. The sold-out halls of the Yekaterinburg Drama Theater that hosted the Festival, once again showed the developed jazz culture flourishing in the Urals capital.
