Presidential Diplomacy Photo Exhibit in Tyumen
May 21, 2004
The U.S. Consulate General in Yekaterinburg has opened a photo exhibit that documents the history of U.S.- Russian relations through pictures taken at meetings between American and Russian/Soviet leaders. All the pictures were taken by Russian photographers and reflect captured moments that effectively convey the essence and mood of the meetings. The exhibit was opened inside the City Administration building on May 20th and will be on display until June 2nd. This exhibit marks the beginning of increased U.S. Government interest in Tyumen as in addition to the exhibit opening, this visit focused on laying the groundwork for opening an American Corner in the city this fall. Meetings were held with the City Administration, City and Oblast Libraries, as well as with Tyumen State University. Joining the Yekaterinburg Public Affairs Staff on this trip were Deputy Public Affairs Officer, David Marks and Information Resource Officer, Eric Johnson from the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.
