Seminar on quilting in Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk
May 26, 2006

On May 19th Ann Symons visited the American Centers in Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk, and conducted seminars on quilting.  Quilting is a popular hobby in the USA, where there are numerous quilt clubs, associations, museums, stores, and journals. Mrs. Symons collects samples of local quilts when she travels in Russia.  She lectured on quilting to the visitors to the American Centers, and guided them in a hands-on experience in starting a quilt.  Seminar participants in Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk planned to quilt the American and Russian flags.

Mrs. Ann Symons works as librarian at the Anglo-American School in Moscow; has over 30 years of library experience; and served as the president of the American Library Association in 1997 and 1998. Mrs. Symons was a speaker at the 11th annual conference of the Russian Library Association, held in Yekaterinburg May 15th to 19th, 2006.
