Newspaper Design Expert Daryl Moen Addresses Newspaper Visual "Language" in Yekaterinburg

On June 9, Daryl Moen had consultations at Yekaterinburg's privately owned Abak Press media holding company with the editors and the staff of a business weekly Delovoy Kvartal and a weekly newspaper Gorod Ye. His consultations were an excellent wrap up of the master class arranged by Eurasia media trainers held at AbakPress on the same day. Moen's expertise and critique was extremely useful for Abak Press media holding company, a member of the Association of Russian Independent Regional Publishers. Moen did case studies and discussed how it is best to present news stories. He focused on info graphics, art work, photo options as the important tools to news stories presentation.
Daryl Moen addressed the topics of newspaper design at the one day seminar at the American Center in Yekaterinburg on June 10. The topics included team approach to newspaper design and management through design as well as modern concepts of newspaper design, study on newspaper reading habits and how that influences the development of design. His audience included 36 newspaper designers and journalism students from Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk region, Tyumen and Kurgan regions. Daryl Moen analysed a series of case studies and answered numerous questions on how to make a newspaper more accessible and more attractive to potential buyers and advertisers and thereby support its financial and editorial independence.
