Susan Lively, Consul of the U.S. Consulate General in Yekaterinburg took part in the official ceremony devoted to the Memorial Day. This day is celebrated by Russians on June 22, the day the Great Patriotic War (World War II) began in Russia. Veterans, officials and representatives of various diplomatic missions and religions participated in the event. In her speech Ms.Lively said “We gather here today to honor the victims of the war. Every tenth citizen of Sverdlovsk oblast perished in this war, and almost every Russian family lost its relative.“
