New American Firm in Chelyabinsk will Create Over 100 Jobs for Area Residents

Carbo Ceramics, an American company based in Texas, broke ground June 24 on a factory in Kopeisk, Chelyabinsk Oblast, which will produce ceramic proppant pellets for use in the hydraulic fracturing of natural gas and oil wells. This will be Carbo Ceramics’ first plant in Russia, and should begin production in mid-2006. Carbo Ceramics hopes to eventually produce 135,000 tons of proppant per year in Kopeisk. Consul General Scott Rauland participated in the groundbreaking ceremony, which was also attended by first Deputy Governor of Chelyabinsk Oblast Mr. Dyatlov, President of Carbo Ceramics Mark Pearson, and other Chelyabinsk business and government leaders. Mr. Rauland congratulated the American company and Chelyabinsk Oblast, saying “A great team from the regional government has helped Carbo Ceramics clear major hurdles. And Carbo Ceramics itself has a great management team, that will contribute much to the future development of Chelyabinsk Oblast and the oil industry in Russia ”
