Matthew Purl, Political/Economic Officer, visited Verkhnaya Salda Metallurgical Production Company (VSMPO) on 10 August, 2004. VSMPO, the largest titanium manufacturer in the world, provides titanium elements for Boeing airliners. During his visit Mr. Purl toured the plant, received a briefing on the company's cooperation with Boeing and other aerospace companies, and discussed the development of further commercial links between VSMPO and U.S. entities.
