Consulate Visit to Ufa, Orenburg, and Magnitogorsk

Acting Consul General Matthew Purl visited Bashkortostan, Orenburg, and Chelyabinsk Oblasts from August 1 to 4. During his tour of these regions Mr. Purl met with officials of the regional and local governments, and alumni of American training programs. He discussed economic and political developments in the regions, and the potential for investment in agriculture and other economic sectors.
During his visit to Orenburg Mr. Purl toured the new assembly facility established by the John Deere Co. This is John Deere’s first such facility in Russia, and is supplying agricultural equipment for Orenburg and other areas of Russia. The assembly facility is still expanding its operations, and plans to employ twenty persons.
