American Consul General Visits Chelyabinsk

On August 23-24, Consul General John Stepanchuk and Political-Economic officer Jim McNaught made an official visit to Chelyabinsk oblast. The American delegation was received by Chelyabinsk Mayor Mikhail Yurevich (picture) and Minister of Economic Development Yuriy Klepov (picture). The Consul General and Mayor Yurevich discussed the housing and construction boom and economic development in Chelyabinsk city, as well as a wide range of other economic and social issues. The Consul General also discussed U.S. investment in Chelyabinsk, Minister Klepov noted that American investment in the oblast stands at approximately $ 85 million, and that Chelyabinsk actively welcomes more investment.
