Consul General John Stepanchuk and Political/Economic Officer James McNaught visited Perm

On September 5-7, Consul General John Stepanchuk and Political/Economic Officer James McNaught visited Perm. Their meeting with the Deputy Chairman of Perm Kray Government Mikhail V. Antonov focused on regional economy and investment opportuntites. Perm city Mayor Igor N. Shubin told the Consulate team about Perm’s close sister city links to Louisville, Ky. At a meeting with Perm Human Rights Ombudswoman Tatyana I. Margolina human rights issues in Perm Kray were discussed. Head of the Perm election commission Tatyana V. Borodina explained to the U.S. guests the procedure for the election of the new Perm Kray legislature, which is scheduled for December 3rd. The Consulate team had a meeting with William Wardley of Pratt&Whitney, a major U.S. investor in Perm. Local alumni of U.S. exchange programs shared their experiences with the Consuls. John Stepanchuk and James McNaught also met with several members of Perm’s media community.
