“Economic Prosperity Comes from the Individual’s Mind”, Professor Chandler assures his Yekaterinburg Audiences
September 26, 2007
From September 24th to 26th Professor James Chandler, President of the National Intellectual Property Law Institute, and Wenny Huang, Vice-President, discussed intellectual property rights issues with Yekaterinburg audiences . Professor Chandler talked about the history, philosophy, and practice of copyright and patent law, emphasizing that intellectual property and its protection is the major engine for any country's economic development.
Professor Chandler and Judge Huang met with local inventors and entrepreneurs, publishers and software retailers, students and faculty of the Urals State Law Academy and the Urals State Technical University, and also with judges and law enforcement officials, who came to his seminar from Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, and even Novosibirsk. He also had a DVC with the students of the Law University in Vladivostok. The audiences during three intensive days numbered more than 350 people.
Professor Chandler tailored his remarks to each of these groups' interests, but he reiterated that America has never existed without intellectual property protection as the Founding Fathers had included patent and copyright in the 1st article of the U.S. Constitution and guaranteed that individual creators had to be rewarded and protected by society so that they, from whatever country, could share their intellectual property with the world at large.
Professor Chandler had two TV news interviews, one TV program interview (20 minutes), one radio interview with Ekho Moskvy (one hour), and a long interview to appear in the business magazine, Business Quarterly.
