Visit of IRO Laura Kaspari-Hohmann to Yekaterinburg

On December 11th – 15th IRO Laura Kaspari-Hohmann, U.S. Embassy, Warsaw, visited Yekaterinburg and met with the library community of the city and Sverdlovsk Oblast. IRO Kaspari-Hohmann delivered a series of presentations on graphic novels, social networking sites, RSS-technology, and best reference web-sites. This information was highly appreciated by the audience, which included the Sverdlovsk Regional Library named after V.G. Belinskiy, the Academic Library of Ural State University, the Central City Library, and the American Center. Yekaterinburg’s librarians were urged by the IRO to implement the evolving Internet-technologies at their libraries. She also made a presentation entitled “Social Networking Web-Sites” for the younger audience at the Humanitarian University, the Institute of International Relations, the Department of International Relations of Ural State University, and at the American Center. IRO Kaspari-Hohmann displayed the useful side of web-sites that allow people to build social networks based on the exchange of Internet bookmarks, books, photos, information, and goals. She also told the students how they can use these web-sites in their education and for furthering their future careers.
