Bowling Team of the U.S. Consulate Wins the Annual Christmas Pin Tournament

The U.S. Consulate pulled out a surprise victory in the annual Christmas Pin bowling tournament held on December 18 in the Piramida bowling center. The event, hosted by the Sverdlovsk Oblast Ministry of Foreign Affairs, brings together ministry officials and the staffs of the various consulates in Yekaterinburg for an evening of friendly international competition.
Lead by Management Officer David “Strikes-a-Plenty” Shao, the American team overcame a first-round deficit to a strong Bulgarian team and stiff competition from the Czechs to take home the Champion’s cup. Winning the cup, and the tasty goose that went with it, was a thrill. But it’s the friendly atmosphere, cheer of the participants and graciousness of our hosts that leave us eagerly awaiting next year’s tournament.
