Operation Santa Claus - 2004
December 28, 2004

On December 28, 2004 the American Consulate staff visited children at Klenovskoye shelter (Nizhne-Serginskiy district). The Consulate first visited this shelter last year on the New Year’s Eve, and since then has become friends with the children. Consulate staff visits the shelter several times a year, and have collected clothes, toys, and sports equipment for the children there. Klenovskoye Shelter houses 15 boys and 13 girls from the ages of 2 to 16.

Several American companies, including Coca Cola, Pepsi and Subway, as well as the American Information center, made generous contributions to Operation Santa Claus. Consulate staff delivered the gifts to all the children in the orphanage. During their visit to the shelter, Consulate staff watched a New Year’s tale performed by the children and then danced and played games with the children.

On December 30, 2004 Operation Santa Claus continued with the U.S. Consulate’s second visit to the Bulanash orphanage (Artemovsky district). This is the largest orphanage in the district, with more than 200 children living and studying there.

Consulate staff delivered heaters, furniture, clothes and toys as well as presents donated by Pepsi-Cola and Coca-Cola. The Consul General's father and his family friends also sent presents for the children directly from the USA.
