Americans can now register with a new Internet Based Registration Service , known as IBRS , designed for citizens traveling and residing abroad. The IBRS website allows American citizens to centrally record information about their upcoming trips abroad. The Department of State can use this information to assist them in cases of emergency. The site will also provide regularly updated information customized to the individual's travel agenda and itinerary.
