Who Can Apply in Yekaterinburg?
Any resident of the twelve subjects of the Russian Federation that make up the Consular District of the U.S. Consulate General in Yekaterinburg may apply. The Consular District is comprised of:
- Chelyabinsk Oblast
- Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug
- Komi-Permyatsk Autonomous Okrug
- Kurgan Oblast
- Omsk Oblast
- Orenburg Oblast
- Perm Oblast
- Republic of Bashkortostan
- Republic of Udmurtiya
- Sverdlovsk Oblast
- Tyumen Oblast
- Yamalo-Nenetsk Autonomous Okrug
Residents of the following subjects of the Russian Federation now have the option of applying for a visa in Yekaterinburg or Moscow, whichever they feel is more convinient to them:
- Aginsk Buryatsk Autonomous Okrug
- Altay Kray
- Chita Oblast
- Evenkiysk Autonomous Okrug
- Irkutsk Oblast
- Kemerovo Oblast
- Krasnoyarsk Kray
- Novosibirsk Oblast
- Republic of Altay
- Republic of Buryatia
- Republic of Khakasiya
- Republic of Tyva
- Taymyrsk Autonomous Okrug
- Tomsk Oblast
- Ust-Ordynsk Buryatsk Autonomous Okrug
On a case-by-case basis, the Consulate accepts applications from residents who live outside of the aforementioned consular district, that is to say outside of the Urals and Western Siberia. Russian citizens are encouraged to apply for U.S. visas at the Embassy or Consulate responsible for the consular district where they reside.
In addition to Yekaterinburg, there is a U.S. Consulate responsible for the Northwest in St. Petersburg and a U.S. Consulate responsible for the Far East in Vladivostok. All other regions are covered by the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.
